Missouri | It depends on how heavy the tractor is. I would argue that if the tractor is light enough, duals eliminate all pinch rows on the basis of providing enough flotation there is no meaningful compaction, and without actual compaction, you cannot have pinch rows.
When we pulled a 6 row planter, we pulled it with a John Deere 4240, 2wd, no ballast (iron or fluid) 18.4R38 radials. Sometimes with duals, sometimes not. In that case, I don't think it mattered. That tractor was very light, but not so light as to have a traction problem. I preferred it with the duals for the reduction in side to side bounce (annoying by the end of the day). | |
