You can email or call the research agronomists at this station for more detailed information. Dr. Bob Hutchinson started this research project. I am not sure who is working on this project now.
I agree with the other posters about tillage helping to quickly break down organic matter. However, I don't think some of the posters realize how soil freezing in the winter helps build organic matter. Also, I don't think southern farmers realize how increasing soil organic matter will increase soil water holding capacity and help keep the crop going between rainfall events. | |
