So you're saying that using shallow vertical tillage (<4"?) helps in building OM when there is a ton of residue? That's interesting because as you know a lot of soil "experts" regard any tillage at all as heresy. That's never made a ton of sense to me because they also say root residue (which is below ground) is much more effective in building OM than surface residue. Seems like they would want to find a way to incorporate some of this residue in a shallow manner?

This also has me wondering what the opinion is on deep subsoil tillage that minimally disturbs the surface like a DMI subsoiler?
