To me, the splitter valve before the two flow control valves isn't required and is probably causing restriction and heat. I'm 90% certain you can remove it and run all the pump plow through a flow control, then the excess port of it flows into the second flow control.
Before you do that check flows. Maybe the pump output is greater than the flow rating of a flow control and that's the reason for splitting it first.
