A sump pump would likely work. I have a small Simer pump that I have used for pumping puddles on the yard that has run a long time, sometimes ingesting some gravel and dirt. It works best if you keep it off the dirt though. I have a piece of scrap tin with a few small nuts welded to it that I set the pump on.
