Nebraska, The land of corn and cattle | Friend has one. Bought it thinking it was the greatest thing since sliced bread but Ive never been real impressed with it. But Ive never shot it either, its a left handed rifle and he doesnt shoot it much because of the cost. but Ill give you my opinion of the round.
IMHO its like a trackloader. Itll do alot of things OK but its not really good at anything. If you wanted 1 gun to shoot everything from prarie dogs to deer and have something different than your buddies then its a good round. But the cost of ammo makes it impractial to me for use in a dog town, and anything bigger than a deer is beyond its capabilities. Again in my opinion its a 243 in a 270 action, where it shines to me is hunting pronghorn. If you had a long action rifle and wanted to build something like a 243 itd be the way Id probably go.
According to Hornady heres how things shake out:

So actually you can have the same performance as a 25-06 out of a 243 with a shorter overall rifle. Just my $.02 |
