Jim, thanks for the response, the plan was to not use any type of row cleaners and plant at a diagonal to the old corn rows. I don't think it will be an issue in dryland, but possibly in the irrigated. Currently we are using a 1560 drill on 20" spacing with no type of cleaners. We were hoping that a planter unit would give us better seed placement than the 1560 opener. I'm sure some of the stand problems with the drill are due to the old corn stalk rows. I guess the question is would the CIH planter opener be enough of an improvement over the 1560.
