Someone taught you wrong....yes first bead is important, but I would not want to be around some things that are just depending on the first weld....pipe is beveled and spaced so that a stringer bead is put in and if you ever see a stringer bead the welder welds it from the outside but the bead appears inside...and each bead after that is very important..
