Subject: Re: Ethanol is the problem

South Central Wi.
We have no idea where the prices would be with out ethanol. They may be cheaper but there may be a lot less acres planted with a lot more in CRP. We wouldn't be able to afford all the new seed so it my not have even been developed so yields would be 3/4, or less, of what they are now. Maybe corn would be really cheap and we would all be living on some type of other gov program to keep us afloat. And the livestock farmers have this cheap grain in their budget living in the moment not forward contracting because the price is low and the USDA said we are going to have another huge crop. And along comes this drought and the price doubles in 3 months. Where would we be today if we were only producing
10 billion bu. a year and this drought comes along and because we didn't have these new hybrids we dropped to 5 billion or less? What would we be arguing about all then? Like it or not the weak are going to be forced out and a lot of very nice people are going to be hurt. But we see that in ever farm crisis. Unfortunately not everyone can be saved.
