| DSL. Acceptable when it's working.
Downside of being in the country:
Local telco ran fiber all over the county to remote fiber-to-wire conversion boxes(in large boxes along roads out here) since DSL has about a 4 mile limit on wire. Their boxes/cardfiles/remote converters freeze at times leaving one with no internet and then we have to call "Bubba"(his real name) to send a reset command to their box. At first they said it was in our home but with a BSEE and 20+ years of instrumentation/control system experience, I ran their DSL modem's diagnostic and it ratted out on them by pointing to the ISP-side equipment as "failed test". Now they seem to reset it whenever our name shows on the "on-call" technicians phone after hours. | |
