Hi Mike,
I've essentially eliminated how weather was effecting my Wildblue signal by placing the modem as close as possible to the dish and running Ethernet to the computer. When originally installed it was a 100' run of coax and 4' of Ethernet cable; it seemed a cloud the size of your hand could impact the signal. As I'm typing the rain is pouring down without discernable delays.
