Grand Rapids, MI | We have 12MB/s down and 3MB/s up at the office. At home I have 6MB/s down and 1MB/s up.
Both are with AT&T (uverse at home) and the speed stays pretty steady with both. I used to have the 12MB/s service at home through Comcast, and honestly except for downloading long movies I can't really tell the difference. I can get up to 24MB/s down at home, I would be curious to try it some time and see if I would notice the difference.
Our phones in the office are VOIP so we need a good stable connection and it works great. They are actually better than our old AT&T POTS lines. We did have a little trouble when we had lower upload speeds. If 2 or 3 of us were on the phone and we were pushing out a large e-mail etc the upstream would get saturated and start breaking up the phone conversations. When we went to the 3MB/s up we have had no problems. We have never had a problem with the phones when we try to saturate the downstream.
