West Union, Illinois | I have WildBlue (http://www.wildblue.com/) at home and local wireless ISP (http://www.node1internet.com/) at Mom's for the shop. WB is better than dial-up, but frustrating at times. Weather affects it, both here and the downlink site at Laredo, Texas. The biggest problem with a satellite is what I call "lag". You click the button to post something and it thinks a while before doing anything. Download speed is great once it starts. Mom's internet is not as great for downloading big files, but it works the same speed both ways and is much more immediate. My biggest problem with Node1 has been service. They bought out our ISP. We were on the fringe of our ISP's service area, and that makes up 40+ miles from Node1's office. Needless to say, when it hits the fan we are lower on the priority list than the closer customers.
