| Ben, you are right in the direction I am wanting to go. Home raised products command a premium that allows me to look at production options that aren't feasible for the normal market routes. I have family doing goats and a good buddy doing pork but haven't found a good consistent beef product so thinking about this for our own. I think that is key to direct marketing, you got to know the quality you are selling and the only way to control that is to be in charge of the production of it. I agree about losing money in any color or any species. I always tell everyone farming is just legalized gambling.... LOL | |
