30 pounds an acre in this area equals about 8 tons per acre off 4 cuttings @ $450 per ton in small bales for alfalfa. I have tried 20 pounds per acre and that wasn’t thick enough I have experimented with 40 pounds per acre and the stem was too fine and the tonnage went down.
