Much much more complicated market/outlook than ethanol was 15 years ago. Will take mandates/government requirements as renewable diesel is uneconomical on its own.


Please explain. renewable diesel is a blending component that you need to bring down the sulphur in the diesel from 500 to 15ppm. It's an environmental component of diesel. We never have said bio-d/ RD would replace the diesel supply. It a complement. 
What Scott Irwin doesn't understand and fear to ASK.

The small "loss" to produce bio-d/ RD is absorbed by the positive crack margin at the refinery. 
The blending loss is -12 cpg, but Shell/BP make over 1000cpg by cracking the oil into diesel.
