North Central Illinois
80 degrees today with close to 90 tomorrow. First time it has hit 80 all week and the past couple of weeks have been pretty cool. Not sure I can classify this as a big heatwave. We are a little on the dry side but digging in the field there is plenty of moisture there. A few beans are starting to turn with many getting close and all of the corn is dented with milk line down just a tick to close to half on a few hybrids. Little or no sign of disease in beans and at this point it wouldn't hurt them much anyway. Would I take a good soaker right now? You bet I would but I'm not real sure it would add any bushels. Warm sunny days are what is needed to finish this crop so I can't get too excited about the damage a couple of so called hot days are doing to the crop!
