North Central Illinois | 80 degrees today with close to 90 tomorrow. First time it has hit 80 all week and the past couple of weeks have been pretty cool. Not sure I can classify this as a big heatwave. We are a little on the dry side but digging in the field there is plenty of moisture there. A few beans are starting to turn with many getting close and all of the corn is dented with milk line down just a tick to close to half on a few hybrids. Little or no sign of disease in beans and at this point it wouldn't hurt them much anyway. Would I take a good soaker right now? You bet I would but I'm not real sure it would add any bushels. Warm sunny days are what is needed to finish this crop so I can't get too excited about the damage a couple of so called hot days are doing to the crop! | |
