I usually just ask if they are firm on their price or if it is negotiable. I have paid asking price even when they said it was negotiable because it was a fair deal. Usually the guy who says non negotiable is a jerk anyways and thinks he has a gem when it's a piece of junk. I've met some fantastic people through Craigslist, and it's my go-to anytime I'm looking for something no matter how much or little
