Don't forget the fuel return check valve! Remember it is the most likely culprit on your complaint. When it is stuck partway open, the transfer pump can't create enough "cranking" fuel pressure to start the engine. The fuel just rushes by that "open" return line check valve and goes back to the fuel tank, thus not creating fuel pressure sufficient enough to start injection.
