Iowa | I still recommend a fuel hand priming pump, it even helps push out the air when one changes his fuel filters. Cost is probably around $85-$90 for pump and gasket. The other advantage is that it has two one-way check valves inside of it, this helps "hold" the residual fuel pressure(65-90 psi) from going "backwards" thru the fuel supply system, AFTER engine shutdown. I have seen where this "backwards" fuel travel pushes enough fuel out of a PRIMARY(closest to the fuel tank)fuel filter and created an air pocket(top of primary filter), so on the next engine cranking, the tranfer pump was trying to "pull" from that air pocket and the truck wouldn't start because the transfer pump couldn't create the necessary fuel pressure for the injectors. | |
