I have no idea how this system is configured but if I had to bet I would think the underground wire is simply a kill wire to the engine and has nothing to do with the system safety. The explanation with the neutral safety on a Reinke is the only thing that makes any sense. I did not know Reinke didn't use a 120v safety like everybody else.
