Subject: Update on pivot mishap

Nebraska, The land of corn and cattle

Pivot guys were out and figured out what happened, its gonna be interesting how things come out, its going to be between the pivot company and the insurance company on who pays for what.

It was phased wrong, which by itself wouldnt be a big issue, but we come to figure out that somewhere in the underground the safety wire must have arced when it was struck by lightning, and its telling itself that everythings ok. They had us start the motor up and its still trying to move on its own even though some of the towers are completely disconnected.  They checked they safety when they fixed it from the strike so either it ran all year without the safety or sometime over the winter it made its connection underground.  We get some new spans, tower boxes etc, all new wire from end to end on the pivot, and all new underground wire.

So in hindsight, getting it phased wrong actually saved us from what could have been an even bigger wreck.
