Clearly you have never suffered through life with a Ford 351M or 400M or you would not feel that way. I think they put down less than 150 HP. They made so much heat they could vapor lock themselves pulling small trailers. And haling cattle west into the wind, well, you had better pack meals because you would spend the next few days in third gear. There was nothing better about those engines. -Mike
You post made me laugh.... Reminds me of pulling a 16 foot home built tall horse trailer with a half ton two wheel drive 75 Chevy with a 250 six cylinder l head single barrel carb......... pedal to the floor and in third gear for miles on end and never hit 50 mph ever. And if you did it was a big hill you were going down.
Gas mileage was good if you drove it like a car with no load on but you had to give yourself extra time to get there due to lack of power. |
