Subject: tiling flat area

WNW Illinois, Henry Co
i have a new to me field that needs tile to replace old concrete tile that is causing problems, trouble is it is really flat.

IF i tile with the rows, there is only 1 foot of fall for 1000 ft but if crossways of the rows (almost) it is 3 ft in 400 ft. the crossway is noticeable when planting and spraying from previous experiences on no-till. but am concerned with only one foot of fall being a real problem in the end going with the rows.

now this will be tiled every 40 feet with these laterals not just one lateral doing a lot of work.total area of field that has this condition is about only 20 acres, rest has good grade. longest grade length is 1000 ft in the flat area. about 1 acre per line my figuring

or could put two mains in going the short way and only have 500 ft of laterals so more would be with the row.

ideas appreciated

thanks in advance

bob
