northern IL | Most all of my gates have two strands across them with a handle on each end. I first used smooth wire wich was hard to see, and would get kinks in it . Then we went to slinky gates. I liked them until the ends started to uncoil from the handles, and when you get two slinkies coiled together its a real pain. Now I use electric rope, and i love them. There really visable , no kinks , and they don't coil up with the other gate. The problem I found out with them is the connection between the rope and the handle corrode with rust and they loose connection . Can you put something in the connection to keep it from corroding or is there a special handle to hook to these? Checking fences tonight and we found three gates that all lost connection shutting off the fence to the rest of the pasture.
