Subject: Side dressing 28%

Pierce County Wisconsin
What are some of your thoughts on side dressing 28% with a sprayer with drop nozzles yourself vs having coop bulk spread urea with a spinner spreader. We had the coop side dress with bulk spreader last year with good results. I'm considering buying a sprayer for spraying and side dressing. Something we hired coop to do before. I know 28% uses a lot of product. So that is something to consider. Coop doesn't offer 28% side dressing either because it's takes more time and man power. Is there a gain either way. Figure I can pay for a sprayer pretty quickly if I don't have to hire it done. Not to mention timing and doing a better job. I get pretty frustrated when I'm combining and there are two rows run down for 500 feet because operator didn't want to disengage his auto steer.
