West Central Illinois | So do you market all your calves off your cowherd as grassfed and sold direct to consumer? Or is there any order buyers/companies buying any grass finished calves up there? I've been playing around with the idea last few months after I've been seeing some good results from my first year rotating calves once per day and the gains improvement I've seen. Around here it's hard to compete to expand big with more pasture ground as you compete with big rowcrop operations as well as lots of seedstock operations in the area always looking for pasture. Seems like the only way a guy could make a go at it on a small scale would be a specialty market like that | |
