Central Alberta | Back in '89, I saw a presentation at a university about GPS-guided farm equipment. The military was still scrambling the GPS signal at that time, but they had a workaround involving base stations. They had a few demonstrations of robotic tractors as I recall. We all thought all tractors would be autonomous in 5 years, but as it turns out, autosteer was the main result. With current technology, I think autonomous farm machinery is overdue. | |
