Mount Vernon, WA | Windowed blocks are more likely the result of articulated piston failures than bearing failures. Bearing failures make plenty of warning noise before they want to fly out the side.
With your engine serial number you should be able to have your dealer tell you whether or not you have articulated pistons.
Cummins allows 7 hours per quart for oil consumption. Sounds like you could be in the ballpark if you're putting in 12 hour days.
