Subject: Backyard

Stella has one regular egg customer and two overflow customers if she has extra. I feel like selling eggs will help bring her out of her she'll, pardon the pun. But she is bashful around people. I'm trying to manufacture a coop for her. My wife insisted I buy one but I can't find anything larger or better quality than we already have. She came out and saw the pallet wood and said "what are you doing?" That didnt go so well. I am going to make a gable roof and wanted to put tin on it but she asked me to use shingles. I'm gonna have $500 in the roof I'm afraid, so much for trying to save on wood. Have $105 in it for just a few sticks of wood I bought.

I don't know how to make a door. Every little 1x2" framed door I've ever had has fallen apart so I'm not optimistic of that. There is a guy that builds coops here, I was thinking maybe ask him to build a door for me. Or does anyone know how to do something that would hold up?

Have a bottle calf in the backyard. Found him yesterday. Seemed like he was healthy but had tight tendons and couldn't stand up. Gave colostrum yesterday. Went back today and gave more colostrum but was obvious he wasn't standing up today either. In pretty rough shape now. I wonder if he was born a day or two before I found him. I don't recall when I was on the farm last. He was so pitiful tonight I kind of gave a kill em or cure em shot.
