I've been telling people to kill as many as they can and/or get out for years. Don't promote others to get into it, don't fool yourself how good it is. A lot of people lie to themselves about the actual numbers, and when confronted with the actual numbers just brush it off as 'oh well it's the lifestyle I like, can't beat it'

Sure you can. You know what other lifestyle is great? Being a hard worker in the private sector, making big dollars and having lots of down time to play with your toys and see the world. Or buying a nice place and renting it out so you still see cows out the window..

Unfortunately that turns into, Oh I'll just get a few cows because I enjoy looking at them..
To I need some equipment to do things on my own schedule,
To now I need more cows to justify the equipment,
To now I need more cows because this many doesn't pencil.
To I gotta get rid of these cows because it doesn't make sense at all, but...but...but...
To lying to ones self about the costs involved and keeping them around

There's way too many people stuck on that last step.
