Fort Collins, CO | That's a great question, thanks for asking. Quartzite specializes in managing price risk on corn and beans that are in (or soon to be in) production. I think we can add far more value there than in the old crop. The risk of "x" number of bushels in a bin is relatively easy to quantify and manage. Quantifying and managing the risk associated with uncertain production is much more challenging, interesting, and suited to the knowledge and skills I developed in my time as a professional options trader. Ultimately, I wouldn't feel right about getting paid to do something so easy as calculating old crop corn risk. | |
