Do you have enough work to justify a mulching setup? I'm on a skid steer Facebook group and there is a constant supply of guys buying new skid steer with mulching heads who have them up for sale six months later. Running a mulching head on a skid steer is an expensive operation and in a lot of areas it seems like guys are willing to do it way too cheap because they have a lot of payments to make.

I am sure they have their place but I contract out over 500k a year of mulching work and none of the outfits I use have any skid steer mulchers. they all use dedicated articulating ~300 HP machines. The skid steers would be good for smaller landowner type projects but seem like they would be way to slow for serious commercial work.

My mulching/brush needs are on my land or rented fields tree lines. My land is bottomland that only gets dry enough 2 out of 3 years and then for only a short time. Didn’t plan on doing much custom work.
