Subject: Re: baling pine straw

Hastings, Florida
Here in the South there is a large business in pine straw to be used as mulch. So is pine bark, ground up cypress trees and a few other trees. . Baled, it is sold in nearly all garden stores, I think about 4 bucks a bale.I see tractors pulling hay balers in the woods gathering up and baling the straw. Not sure of type of baler. Looks just like the kind I see in hay fields. They then load the bales into van trailers, drop the trailer at the store, and the straw is sold right off the trailer. You need to know that most of the bales come from planted pines, so the trees are in a straight line, and the machine goes between the rows.
