If they are like a JD no-till drill muddy wet soil conditions while cause you to have seed slot closing problems and you might consider some of the notched closing wheels on the market. Dawn, Martin/Needham and Exapta all have them. http://www.dawnequipment.com
I think wear is an issue on the scraper/seed boot and now Atom-jet makes a carbide tips scraper. http://www.atomjet.com/page.aspx?page_id=108
I don't think I would turn sharp corners which those big disc in the in firm untilled ground, the side forces might be considerable.
