I read the post about the wife wanting to work in a bar for "social interaction." My wife, before all the lock downs, would play bingo, paint fingernails, etc. at the nursing home. She also baked cookies for a church group and with other ladies packed boxes of school supplies for kids. She has a number of friends "all ladies" with whom she gets together once a week to just sit and have coffee and talk. Then for more "social interaction" we get together with friends every couple of weeks and play cards, which is a lot of talking and deserts. I think sober interaction and joining with others to do things that promote health and well being are valuable to both the community and to one's self. |
