Alberta
Had a 147 pound bull calf off a 10 year old cow this year. Calf dead and cow down for 3 days. Lost another monster calf off a 3rd Calver that hiplocked, didn't weigh that one, m guessing 130 plus. That cow got up right away. Other than backwards and feet back, twins breech etc, I don't think I have had to touch anything older than 2nd Calver for the last 20 years. After my heifers are done, if it is warm cows ussually only get checked twice a day. Bigger calves this year than last year and cows were in better shape last year going into calving. Pretty much same bull battery. Not sure what the issues are. Always thought excess protein was the cause of big calves, but feed tests through the winter tell me feed my program was bang on for nutrient needs. Baffling.
