NS Canada | The wet feed will generally retain its sugars better, all else being equal. But no, wet feed won't go as far as dry bales lb for lb. You make up for it in quality a bit, but the major benefit is being able to put up more feed in a shorter weather window.
If you don't have time to make great quality hay, and it gets rained on, it loses feed value quickly - where as if you wrapped, the bales are made and wrapped and no worries of the approaching storm.
