Subject: Re: Bad Steering Valve on Auto Pilot

Central Iowa
I had a similar issue last year and chased every single part. I had it in my head that there was an issue with the hydraulics and could NOT get it to drive straight. It turns out after way too many hours of work, that there was a multi pathing issue. The farmer had placed a small patch antenna on the roof for the GPS on his PDA, and there was enough reflection of signal, that I had multi pathing. It finally dawned on me and I took the patch off, and it instantly smoothed out. The system was running RTK correction, so it apparently was very sensitive. So I guess to sum it up, look for any multipath issues, and also don't get into such a troubleshooting rut that you don't forget to rethink and maybe look at something else.
