WCIN | I too am a STO and just completed the which manure spreader should I buy gauntlet. Had a semi local consignment dealer that had a good selection for comparison, 3 195 NH, 1 brand new 185 NH, 430 H&S and a Kuhn knight 1140. Spent a couple hours of side by side comparison, all were fairly close in options.
I choose the Kuhn, for one it was the second cheapest of my choices, ($8200) even though it had the most surface rust and will need webs in the future, my labor is cheap. It is hydraulic drive no belts and simple. Dual web, slop gate and no welds, most importantly I can fill it from one side with my skid steer. Everything I wanted but a top beater.
Couldn’t bring myself to buy the new 185 spreader it was 2x the money ($16900) of the Kuhn.
The 195’s 3 of them ran from $7000-14,000 cheap one needed welding and had some welds but they all had tires too wide for me to fill on one side.
The 430 h&s was runner up, ($9800) well built but it was 2 ft wider from tire edge to the center. I also really like the tandem undercarriage of the Kuhn over H&S, not saying it’s any better just a lot more metal.
Bottom line I don’t think any of the choices I compared were bad and all are better than the John Deere 44 I was using
