North Central Illinois
Use either masking tape or painter’s tape on either the top or the bottom of the decal in a few places to form sort of a hinge. This will allow you to get the decal exactly where it needs to be. Wet the hood surface and the decal with a mixture of soap and water from a spray bottle. Start to peel the backing off and press the decal into place working your way down the hood and carefully removing the tape as you go. Once you have the backing off and the decal in place, use a bondo paddle or plastic putty knife and begin working the air and water out from under the decal by scraping down the length of the decal. Prior to this the soap and water will allow you to make minor adjustments if necessary. Continue to work the water and air out and then wipe down thoroughly with a towel. If the decal has a protective layer on the outer side, wait several hours before attempting to remove it.
