Somewhere between $650-900 depending on which cow it came out of. Kept some pretty expensive replacements in ‘14 that would need all $900 per calf to break even. And then there’s some out of heifers that couldn’t get a $650 bid the year they were retained. Not going to go through the book and see how many of each are still here raising calves. But definitely the biggest $ difference year to year. Feed is stockpiled for at least 2 years out, leases are locked in for at least 3 at current rates. Vaccine took a bit of a jump over the last 2 years but wouldn’t be $20/hd difference. If this cattle cycle ever takes off again there’s serious profit potential even at $1150/hd for calves.
