Change filters yearly and for planting tractors and combines blow out about daily or put up with the "air cleaner restriction" light/beeper all day. Usually you can't see the pleats or the mesh after a day when the light is on, it seems like the housing is half full of dirt.

We only blow out the primary though, and if the secondary looks visibly dirty, both are replaced.
