Maybe I just have a bad attitude because I'm married to a POS Harvest International conveyor, but I'm half tempted to buy another auger for loading out certain crops. No doubt the belt is easier on beans and it runs quieter, but its a more expensive way to move grain and unless you have a 18" belt I think a 10" auger is faster than a 15" belt. Conveyors will work in cold weather, but you do have to deal with belts freezing on and being stiff so in really cold weather it helps to just let it run a few minutes to loosen up the belt. If you buy a belt buy a cover for the hopper and use it. You also have more bearings to maintain and it seems like I'm always working on mine trying to get it to stop leaking grain somewhere. For me, I'd like to have one of each, but if you are just going to buy one spend the money on a Brandt or Conveyall. Skip the Batco or Harvest International (maybe they've stepped up the quality since Meridian bought them out).
