Beresford, SD | Insurance is basically non-existent for Alfalfa.
Excellent rains and growing season 7 ton dry hay production is not too difficult to achieve. 2012 type deal, getting 2 ton/acre is a push.
If I had old stands I’d burn them down and no-till corn into them. My 150 acres are young stands. I am not planting any more this spring as I’m planning on wall to wall corn for the incredible insurance coverage and possibility of an outrageous harvest price in the event of a Midwestern drought. | |
