ottertail co mn | Only in a rare occurrence does an animal not weigh over 1050. I had one break a front leg one time as a day old calf. I was able to get it mostly healed, but that calf never grew like it should have. It hung at 600 pounds , so probably 1000 live weight. My bil bought a half from me out of that animal, said it was the most tender , well marbled beef he has had and he is fussy. He asks if I can have that happen more often lol,
Some people who sell direct have most of their animals weigh 600 or less that is their market. I want mine to hang around 1000. Those people who have small cattle leave a lot of money on the table IMO.
