Clean the paint off where the openers contact for the most accurate measurement. The last openers I bought from Shoup had thick paint. That said I shimmed them to 1.5” contact with business cards (with out cleaning paint off), then they ended up at about 1” after the paint wore off, which is what I was shooting for.
