Subject: RE: STAX in cotton

Texas, the really flat part
I’ve got three separate farms, all cotton. In 2019 I kept STAX on one farm and went PLC on the others. Last August STAX paid me around $225 per acre. That’s more than double what PLC paid. The downside to STAX is that it’s based on countywide production. In our area that historically hasn’t paid on irrigated cotton, but the past 3 years have been difficult enough that even irrigated cotton yields have been hammered. With the stronger market, continuing dry weather and a long range forecast that calls for more of the same I’m going 100% STAX.
