Subject: RE: Planting wheat in high yield corn environments

Kankakee, IL
I have always had the goal of raising 150 bu/acre between the two crops. I've been able to do this a couple of times. Typically looking near 110 bu on the wheat and 40 on the soybeans. I'll raise an early variety wheat, start harvest once below 20% and dry, plant soybeans in 15" rows at 180K. Fungicide on wheat, micros with a late N application are standard for me on the wheat. Pray for rain on the soybeans during August, spray fungicide to keep healthy, pray for rain in Sept. I won't hesitate to dry the late harvested soybeans either, doesn't take much $ to run them through the dryer.
