NCIL | I have done this a few times with usually good success. I am about 20 miles South of I80 in IL.
I apply dry fertilizer after soybeans and no till the wheat as soon after the fly free date as possible. I may plant a slightly earlier bean to accomplish the planting date. Fungicide on the wheat is a must IMO.
Pretty consistent 90-100 bu wheat, but I don’t do it every year. Scout it often for armyworm etc. Double crops beans have ranged from 18-40. I really don’t think you can plant them too thick in July. The last time I did it, planted 260k in 15” rows. | |
